Today’s BlogDay, on which
we’re supposed to blog about 5 new blogs that we find
interesting.
Picking just 5 out of the firehose is
daunting, so I’m stretching the meaning of new
quite a bit. These are 5
awesome blogs that sit at the intersections of my various geeky interests.
In no particular order, here are my picks:
- Hidden Mojo is simply the best blog covering the intersection of motivation, interest, and success in the workplace. Every day, I wish I had a hard-bound copy of it with which to hit people repeatedly until they get it.
- The Snowclones Database is your one-stop shop for everything known about these fascinating linguistic phenomena. I’m no linguist—I don’t even play one on TV, but my wife is: the Snowclones Database is one of her projects.

These days, Chris
Double—whom I remember as a Schemer from my
days of reading
comp.lang.lisp—is working on adding support for HTML 5’s<video>element to Firefox. Watch his blog for lots of great material on browser guts, programming languages, etc. - I love maps, and nothing feeds my map fix like Strange Maps, the blog of unusual, fascinating maps. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with this blog. It’s that good.
- DeWitt Clinton, not to be confused with the historical DeWitt Clinton, writes very insightfully on all sorts of web tech goodies. He’s one of the guys behind OpenSearch, but you can also count on him for great discussion around REST, AtomPub, GData, and the like.
