   What did it do to your laptop? My update worked fine.

   The update failed to install, because an unexpected error occurred. The machine then started acting really funny, so I rebooted. It stuck at the gray-apple-with-black-spinny-dude stage. The usual stuff (disk utility, etc.) didn't work, so I swung by the Apple Store and they did one of those archive-installs of 10.4.5, which works.
